This is my Grandfather

The funeral services for Charles Schade, well known Belle Prairie township farmer, who passed away last Friday evening, were held from the family home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, the Rev. G. P. Snedaker, of the Methodist church at Buckingham, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles Smith of the Cropsey Mehtodist church. The Cropsey male quartet sang and Interment was in the Cropsey cemetery.

The following obiturary was read at the funeral services:

Charles Schade, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schade, was born in Belle Prairie township, September 16, 1878 and passed away at his home Friday, February 17, 1939, at 6:25 p.m. at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 1 day.

He spent practically all his life in this township, attended the country schools and received his education there. Being the oldest son he had to take the lead of farm work and was a farmer who liked his work.

He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Blundy, November 9th 1904 and to this union were born five children. He was a faithful and loving husband to the last, a hard workeer and a good provider, always interested in the good things he could do for his family.

There are left to mourn his passing his loving wife, four daughters and one son, as follows: Mrs. Verla Steinberg, of Sibley; Mrs. Elsie Arrasmith, of Chicago; Mrs. Edna Schuldt of Anchor; Miss Mildred and Charles at home. There are also four grandchildren; Hazel Ailene, Doris Mae and Lois Marie Steinberg and Joan Louise Schudt. Besides these there are three brothers and two sisters living. They are: William and Frank of Cropsey; George, Fairbury; Mrs. Alice Cook, Cropsey; and Mrs. Mary Ulfers, of Bloomington.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness and the sympathy extended us during the sickness and at the death of our husband and father; also for the beautiful floral offerings -- Mrs. Bertha Schade and Family.

Grandpa: I was so young when you passed away, but I felt I knew you growing up for all the good stories that were told to me. Rest in peace.
