Mary married Moses Parker in 1854 in Screven County, Georgia. The parents and their first three children must have left Georgia before the Civil War, and stopped in Alabama on the way westward. Mary Brinson Parker, died in 1877 and was buried there in the Carthage City Cemetery. The only notice of death found on Mary, was found in the Carthage, Texas newspaper published in 1877. The editorial was titled "The Angel of Death" and read as follows: "After an absence of two weeks from home, we return to find that the angel of death has visited our usually healthy town, and vicinity, and has removed from our midst one of our best adults. Within the past two weeks, it has pleased the Master to remove from our midst, Mrs. Moses Parker, who died of Black Jaundice. Mrs. Parker was one of our best citizens, and her death has caused a void in her family that can never be filled, society mourns that she is no more."
