Sequim resident Nicholas Light died of lymphoma in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles. He was 80.
He was born to Frank and Magdalena (Kleinholz) Licht in Sandusky, Mich., where he grew up and worked on the family farm. He served in the Army from 1940 to 1945.
In 1946, Mr. Light moved to Clallam County, where he retired from Napa Auto Parts in 1984.
He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and camping. Feeding birds and dancing were also among his favorite activities.
Mr. Light was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles, Elks and St. Joseph"s Catholic Church.
His wife, the former Elaine Whieland, died Dec. 6, 1993.
He married Carolyn Hall on July 23, 1994, in St. Joseph's Church, Sequim.
Mr. Light is survived by his wife of Sequim; son Charles Allen Light of Port Angeles;. sisters Mary Lawrence of Oscoda, Mich.; Elizabeth M. Baize of Detroit; Margarete Williams of Sturgis, Mich.; Barbara Hayost, Anna Shagena and Magdalena "Helen" Schmitt, all of Deckerville, Mich.; and Irene Marie Charboneau of Cheboygan, Mich.; brother Carl Licht of Saginaw, Mich.; and one grandchild.
Services: Today, Nov. 6, visitation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., then again at 6 p.m. in Sequim Valley Chapel, 108 W. Alder St.; 7 p.m. vigil, at the same location. Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Frank Walsh officiating, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim, after which a reception will be held in Sequim Valley Chapel.
Memorials: Franciscan Sisters of the Marian Convent, 124 S. College Drive, Santa Maria, CA 93454; or charity of choice.
