Glema Perdue Thompson, 93, a retired teacher, died March 25, 2007.
She was a graduate of Marshall University and did graduate work at West Virginia
University. Her teaching career spanned 35 years.
Glema was a charter member of the Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was past matron of Chelyan Chapter 101 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Order of White Shrine. She also served as a West Virginia deputy instructor for the Order of Rainbow for 26 years.
Glema was a member of Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church and served in many capacities in the Mount Juliet United Methodist Church, Belle.
Her husband of 53 years, Glenmoore, died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Vera T. Rupert of Fairfax, Va.; and a son, Lew W.
Thompson and his wife, Velma Kelly Thompson, of Daleville, Va.
The oldest of 10 children, Glema is also survived by two sisters, Avanelle P.
Trautman of Dumfries, Va., and Berta Jane Easter of Jacksonville, Fla. Her
surviving sisters-in-law are Mary Perdue and Marie Perdue of Madison.
Her six grandchildren are Jennifer R. Healy and husband, Mark, Gregory A. Rupert
and wife, Anne, Lt. Col. Bradford L. Rupert and wife, Mary, Allison R. Green and
husband, Kyle, Nora Lynn T. Barker and husband, Dennis, and Glenn L. Thompson and wife, Laura.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Forrest Burdette United
Methodist Church, Mt. Juliet United Methodist Church, or a charity of your
choice.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Fidler & Frame Funeral
Home, 1126 E. Dupont Ave., Belle. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park,
Madison.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
