Fred Farley, 51, died Monday, April 7, 2008, in Shiprock. He was born in Cortez, Colo. He was from the Bitahnii people, born for Tl'izilani; Ozei Tachii' nii were his cheis, and Ashiihi were his Nalis.

Fred is survived by his wife, Lamis Bellison Farley; son, Lathan Beaver; granddaughter, Amanda; mother, Betty Farley from Teec Nos Pos; and siblings, Marie Bigman from Shiprock, Emerson Farley from Kirtland, Herman Farley from Teec Nos Pos, and Melinda Naseyowma from Teec Nos Pos. He was loved dearly by his niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Fred served with the United State Marine Corps. He was a Secretary/Treasurer for Teec Nos Pos Chapter, King and Clark Veteran's Organization for a number of years.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Friday April 11, provided by Desert View Funeral Home, in Shiprock on north U.S. Hwy. 491, (505) 368-4607. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with full military honors. A reception will follow at Teec Nos Pos Chapter House.
