Colonel of the First Battalion of Associate Battalions of Chester County. Delegate to the Ratification of the U.S. Constitution. Present at the Battle of Brandywine, and travelled with his friend General Anthony Wayne, to Malvern, where he was present at the Paoli Massacre. Later captured by British Light-horse in Marshallton and taken to Philadelphia, but later escaped.
