The tombstone of John Cass McDaniel had been hidden from view for many years. A huge tree grew in the center of his grave very close to the front of the stone. Bushes were between the tree and the stone, and the stone was tilted forward where the dates were hidden. In March of 2008, a group of Haile-McDaniel descendants met at Hibbit Cemetery, dug up his stone, and moved it over by his wife's stone, Sarah Locky Haile McDaniel. It was exciting to view his stone at long last...and to see the two together.
