Mrs. Thomas Cooper

Just eleven days after her eighty-sixth birthday, Mrs. Thomas Cooper passed away on Friday, January 26, 1923. On her birthday Mrs. Cooper was in good health and in the best spirits at her birthday dinner at the home of her son, Mr. Albert Cooper. But she caught a cold, which carried her off in ten days. Mrs. Cooper was a very kindly and unusually intelligent woman, and had been a veritable mother in Israel to the whole community round Cooper's Falls. Her husband's death occurred four years ago ... Of their family five children survive Albert, Fred and William E., of Cooper's Falls; Mrs. John Fox (Ada) of Regina, Saskatchewan; and Arthur, of Wolseley, Saskatchewan. There are 39 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
The funeral was largely attended, not only by the people of the neighbourhood, but by friends from Toronto and other points. There were many beautiful floral tributes. All her children were present, except Mrs. Fox. Her son, Arthur, started for home on learning that his mother was seriously ill, but though he made the trip from Wolseley in a little over two days he arrived too late to see her, though in time for the funeral. Interment was made in St. George's cemetery, beside that of her husband. They will long be held in grateful memory as the pioneers of that district, and for all they accomplished, as well as for the kindliness of their disposition.
