Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Luther Garrett and Mary Ellen Hannah Garrett; by her sisters, Katherine Garrett Craig and Virginia Blankenship Williams; and by her nephew, Thomas J. Craig.
She is survived by her daughter, several cousins and numerous loving friends.
Mary Ruth was born on December 29, 1926, and was a member of Montgomery Baptist Church. She graduated from Montgomery High School and attended West Virginia Tech. She was a former employee of C&P Telephone Company and was a talented pianist and artist. She was a devoted and loving mother whose happiest times were spent with her home full of young people for whom she provided a safe and joyous environment and wonderful childhood memories. She was a voracious reader, provided a wonderful home for dozens of beloved pets over the years, was a lover of history and art, and realized a lifelong dream when she and her daughter toured Europe.
Mary Ruth never met a stranger and touched many lives. She will be deeply missed.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park, London
