His maternal grandparents were James McDaniel and Lydia Bratcher. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. Landis, the daughter of S. F. Landis and Nancy Sanders. At the time of the 1880 Census of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky the Uriah Blue Harrel family consisted of: Uriah B. a farmer, age 25; his wife Elizabeth J., age 23; and sons: William E., age 3; and Joseph H., age 10 months.
Uriah Blue Harrell died in Grayson County at the age of 56 years and 7 months on March 30, 1911. He was buried in the Landis Cemetery near Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. His parents, his wife Mary and his young children John T. (1878-1878), Lillian (1881-1882), Charles B. (1887-1898), Mary E. (1889-1890), Alfred L. (1891-1920) and Claud Harrell (1896-1898) are also buried there. Alfred died before the age of 29, but the other children were less than two years old when they died. His son Joseph Harrell (1879-1918) and his wife are buried in the McGrew Cemetery near the Grayson/Edmonson County line.
