She was born June 23. 1894 in Morehead, Ky. And was a daughter of the late Justin and Clara Davis Sackett. She was a graduate of Concord College and was a former Mercer County teacher.
She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the general board of Global Missions. She was past president of the West Virginia United Methodist Women, past president of the West Virginia Osteopathic Association Auxiliary, past president of the Blue Grass Garden Club and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William H. Carr in 1968.
She is survived by one son, William H. Carr, Jr. of Williston, S.C.; one brother, Fred Sackett of Welch; three sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Johnston of Princeton, Mrs. Maurine Bodell of Bluefield and Mrs. Margaret Cassell of Bristol, Tn.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Methodist Church with Dr. Lawrence Sherwood and Dr. Frank Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in Monte-Vista Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bingham Jack Richardson, Jack Richardson, Jr. Kermit Whitt, David Richardson and Rusty Richardson.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Friends may call at Mercer Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday.
