Marian O. (Matzen) Ward, 72

Marian was born August 15, 1950 in Blair, Nebraska the daughter of Rudolf and Gladys Matzen. She attended McCarthy Country School through the eighth grade and then attended Blair High School, graduating in 1968.

On April 2, 1970, she was united in marriage to C. Allan Ward in Blair. Marian worked for the Washington County Extension, Equitable Savings Bank, Firstier and Two Rivers Bank, from which she retired in 2017.

Marian was well known in Blair and the surrounding area for her custom wedding, birthday, and graduation cakes. Marian enjoyed bird watching and working outside. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the McCarthy Extension Club and was active in Danish Days, where she won numerous awards for her homemade bread.

Marian O. Ward, age 72 of Blair, Nebraska, passed away July 26, 2023 at her home.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, C. Allan Ward; son Vince (Casey) Ward; grandchildren: Preston, Connor and Claire; sisters: Janice Lambrecht and Linda Johnson; along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Eileen Smith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church, beginning at 9:00 AM. Private graveside services will be held in the Blair Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard and First Lutheran Church in Blair or directed to the family for donation to a cancer support charity at a later date.
