Barbara Jean Cummings Avery, age 67, died Thursday, March 27, 2008. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Gordon First Baptist Church. Rev. Maxie Threatt and Roy Tolbert officiated.
Mrs. Avery was the daughter of the late Clinton Cummings, Ruth Brown and Susie Glosson. She was a native of Johnson County but had resided in Jones County for a number of years. Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Franklin Avery. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Avery of Macon; daughters, Norma (Joseph) Avery of Haddock and Carolyn (Tim) Dippel of Lancaster, S.C.; sons, Andrew Avery of Macon, Bobby (April) Avery Jr. of Macon; sisters, Joanne Allen of Macon, Linda Knowles of Milledgeville, Betty Epps of Madison, Tina Till of Oakridge, Tenn.; brother, Leroy Screws of Madison; five grandchildren, Russell, Rachael, Brittany, Wesley, Jeremy; a number of nieces and nephews.
Clinton (Bigg) Cummings and Ruth Martin Cummings Brown were not the birth parents of Barbara Jean Cummings Avery.
