Beverly K. Massey, 69, Washington Street

Beverly K. Massey, 69, of Washington Street, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at 8:55 p.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Beverly retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2002 where she had served for 42 years. She was a member of First Christian Church, 50-year member of Hartsville Order of Eastern Star Chapter 550, Indiana Dancers Association and had served as President for five years, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and was currently serving as the National President, Descendants of George Washington's Army at Valley Forge and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former Brown County 4-H Fair Leader and Board Member.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to time of service Wednesday. An Order of Eastern Star service will be conducted by the Hartsville Chapter at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Beverly was born in Bartholomew County on June 3, 1938, the daughter of Elbert D. and Naomi Ann Whitesides Waltz.

Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Julie) Trotter and Victor (Dayna) Trotter, both of Columbus; a sister, Barbara (Ernest) Stone of Columbus; grandchildren Aubrey (Shane) Hardin and Jacob (Carrie) Trotter, both of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Braydon, Ryana and Bryce, all of Columbus; and a niece, Jan (Mike) Rynerson and a nephew, Darryl (Colleen) Stone, both of Columbus.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents.

Beverly K. Massey

The funeral for Beverly K. Massey, 69, of Columbus was conducted Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home with the Rev. Lance Stevens officiating.

Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jacob Trotter, James Bringle, Darryl and Adam Stone, Shane Hardin and Dave Upton.

Following the committal service, members of Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 conducted a memorial service, followed by a three-volley musket salute by Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. Taps was played by Doug Heighway.

An Eastern Star memorial service was conducted Tuesday by Hartsville Order of the Eastern Star at the funeral home.

Mrs. Massey died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
