Helen was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Tucson, Ariz., to John Howard Christian and Sarah Edna Chase. She was a graduate of North Side High School in Fort Worth. While completing her music degree at Texas Christian University (she proudly claimed she was an "Ancient Frog"), she met the love of her life and future husband, George Stancoff. They married in August 1948. They worked for the Fort Worth Independent School District upon their graduation from TCU until their retirement.
During their marriage, Helen and "her George" shared their enjoyment of life, family, music, friends and traveling throughout the world. She loved animals, especially dogs, and eagerly told every one of her granddogs, especially her Cherry.
Helen was welcomed into heaven by her beloved George; parents; brothers; and her Westie, Mac.
