Allie Thomas Ivey, following a month's illness, died in a Jacksonville Hospital last Friday morning.

Allie Thomas, 35, son of Hon. Louis Thomas Ivey, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Clay County. Wife Lilla Athelia Weeks Ivey, died last Friday morning in a Jacksonville hospital, folowing an illness of about a month.

Allie's, trouble started with diseased tonsils and he went to Jacksonville for treatment but the trouble became so stubborn and his physical condition so weakened that the doctors refused to operate until his strength was built up. There was no improvement in his physical condition. On the other hand he grew weaker from day to day. Blood transfusions were resorted to but to no avail. The end came last Friday morning after a month of intense but patient suffering.

Allie, was born in Green Cove Springs and had lived here all of his life. He was a consistent member of the Baptist Church and a Past Worshipful Master of Cabul Lodge No. 116, F. and A.M.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace High Ivey; his father Hon. Louis Thomas Ivey, mother Lilla Athelia Weeks Ivey, two sons, Allie Thomas Jr. and David Ivey and three brothers, Walter Warren Ivey, Wife Mary Beale Priest.
Louie James Ivey Wife Hattie Elaine Wilbur. and Everett Woodrow Ivey, all of Green Cove Springs, and a large number of other relatives.

Allie, was one of those genial, whole-hearted, sympathetic, happy fellows whom to know was to love and admire. Nothing gave him greater joy than to serve others in any capacity of his capability. He was always "one of the boys" and he was never better satisfied than when in the pitcher's box at a ball game pitching the local boys to victory. He loved clean sport and was a clean sportsman himself.

His death came as a serious shock to the entire community.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of his parents in west Green Cove Springs Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Ivan Bohannon having charge of the service.

The great crowd of people present and the tremendous profusion of floral offering, testified to the esteem and veneration in which he was held.

Interment was in Hickory Grove Cementery, Hardage and Williams in charge.
