James Delbert Hale, son th James Henry Hale and Mary Ellen Hale, was born in Butler, Missouri, November 10, 1879, and passed at his home in Eureka, Kansas, January 10, 1944, at the age of 64 years.

He came to Greenwood County with his parents when he was two years old, and grew to manhood here. He was engaged in farming near Hamilton during all his mature years with the exception of seven years spent in Texas.

Mr. Hale was united in marriage to Dorothea Hauge December 3, 1906. That union was blessed with four children.

Because of his ill health Mr. and Mrs. Hale moved to Eureka about two years ago.

Mr. Hale became a member of the Christian Church when he was a small boy. He was an affectionate and loving husband and father, a good friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, four children, Mrs. Thelma Moon, Misses Maxine and Deebertta Hale of Kansas City, Missouri; Stanley Hale of Eureka; one sister, Mrs. E.H. Lehmann of Oakley, Kansas; one grandson, Billy Lee Hale.

Funeral service, conducted by the Rev. R.E. Gaston, was held from the Baird Funeral Home in Eureka, Wednesday, January 12. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
