Mrs Shrilda Jones Stamps quietly passed away at her home near Mayland early Thursday morning, September 15. Mrs Stamps was born June 18, 1864, dying at the age of 74.
In 1882 she was married to James Stamps and to this union were born 12 children, 4 having preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband; 1 daughter, Mrs Julia Pugh, Plateau; 7 sons, Wilson, Ervin, Buford and Vance, Mayland; John D, Crossville; Beecher and Lester, Detroit, Mi; 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Buford and Andy Jones, Brotherton.
Mrs Stamps was converted and joined the Freewill Baptist church 58 years ago.
She had long been a resident near Mayland, and had been sick for almost 2 years. Burial was at Mayland cemetery.
