He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, having served with the 17th Airborne 139th Engineers. He was a retired employee of the Borough of Chambersburg, retiring in 1974 with more than 30 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Elva Neidigh Wadel; a daughter, Janet Bard of Shippensburg, Pa; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jennie Schaeffer of Chambersburg, and two brothers, Fred K. of Chambersburg and Frank B. of Waynesboro. A daughter preceded him in death.
