Lettie Belle Gribbins Smothers, 90, Bradfordsville, died March 10, 2008, at her residence after an illness.
Born in Marion County Aug. 1, 1917, Smothers was a homemaker and member of Bradfordsville Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jim and Annie Ellis Gribbins; her husband, Jake Smothers; a son, Jerry Smothers; two grandchildren; four brothers, Oakley, Ernest, Don V. and Robert "Booty" Gribbins; and four sisters, Lottie Henderson, Roberta Noe, Lealon Smothers and Mary Elizabeth Pittman.
Survivors include: eight sons, George, David and Paul Smothers, all of Bradfordsville, Sam, Harold and Carl Smothers, all of Lebanon, Johnny Smothers of Illinois and Mark Smothers of Indiana; six daughters, Mary Frances Garrett, Margaret Smothers and Betty Rakes, all of Lebanon, Linda Hayden of Bowling Green, Katherine Gordon of Buffalo and Peggy Gordon of Bradfordsville; a brother, Hubert Gribbins of Lebanon Junction; 42 grandchildren; and 68 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 12 at Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home, Lebanon, with burial in Old Liberty Cemetery. Elder Roy Annabell officiated.
Pallbearers were Leo Hayden, Fred and Jake Gordon and Sam, Harold and George Smothers.
