Daughter of Thomas Brown Finley and Caroline Elizabeth Cowles Finley. A.B. Queens College 1922. The insignia on the stone is a brass Daughters of the American Revolution plaque. Served as past president of local chapter of the NC Education Association. She never married.

She was an elementary school teacher in the Wilkes County School system for many years and was delightfully curious with a distinctly crisp speech diction. I visited her at her house built just above her father's(Judge Finley) old tennis court on F street numerous times and she was always giving me spelling tests even up into her 80's. She also asked my children similar questions as well as what else they were learning in school.
