Ward SC - A. Pope McCarty, 80, of Ward, died at the Baptist Hospital last night [February 9, 1956] after an illness of one week. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Bickley of West Columbia, Mrs. George Cook of Columbus GA, Mrs. Richard Lewis of Trenton, and Mrs. James P. Posey of Augusta GA; three sons, Roy M. McCarty of West Columbia, John M. McCarty of Saluda, A. Pope McCarty, Jr. of Batesburg; three sisters, Mrs. F. E. Miller of Newberry, and Mrs. Wilbur Coleman and Mrs. Capers Yarborough of Saluda; three brothers, A. L. McCarty of Saluda, H. B. McCarty of Newberry and J. P. McCarty of Newberry, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral plans are incomplete. Posey Funeral Home. The Index-Journal (Greenwood SC), February 10, 1956.
