"Abbie" was the daughter of Scott Francis and Kathryn (Paugh) Taylor. A first-grader at Concord Elementary School in Edina, Minnesota, and avid swimmer, she was injured in a swimming pool accident on June 29, 2007. A few days after the accident, Abigail told her parents she wanted "to make sure this doesn't happen to any other boys or girls." Her parents helped lobby for a new federal law that bans the manufacture, sale or distribution of drain covers that don't meet anti-entrapment safety standards. In December, 2007, President George W. Bush signed into law the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, named after former Secretary of State James Baker's grandaughter who died in pool accident. Abigail underwent transplant surgery at the Nebraska Medical Center Hospital, receiving a new small bowel, liver and pancreas. She died from organ transplant complications at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She is survived by her parents, Scott and Katey; sisters, Grace, Christina, and Audrey; grandparents, Don and Betty Paugh, and Jay and Eileen Taylor; great-grandmother, Rosetta "GG" McCabe; aunts and uncles, Don Paugh Jr. (Dee Olin), Karen Paugh; "fairy" godparents, Tom (Dawn) Paugh, Jerry (Dana) Paugh, Jim Paugh (Nancy Funkhouser), John Paugh and Susan Taylor; cousins, David, Brandon, Bailey, Keegan, Blake, Arden, Sydney, Spencer, Tommy, Johnny, and Jimmy; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by great-grandfather, George "Pops" McCabe; and uncle, David Paugh.
