Mr. Joseph Dupuie, one of Manistique's old and highly respected citizens, died early this week, at his residence in the westside, after an illness of nearly two years. For years the deceased resided on a farm in Hiawatha township and in the early history of the Weston Furnace Co, had charge of a battery of kilns located in the township.

Several years ago when his advanced age compelled him to forego the arduous duties of farming, he moved to this city.

The funeral was held from St. Francis De Sales church yesterday morning of which he was a devoted member, the service was largely attended.

This Joseph Dupuis was actually the son of Amable Dupuis and Mathilde Houle. He was born and baptized 10 Nov 1844 in
Napierville, Canada.

His death record, found here: http://cdm16317.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p129401coll7/id/690273/rec/2 supports this with the date of birth and the father as A Dupuis.
