Charlie Blain, born at Anoka, Minnesota, March 2, 1858, eldest son of the late Bartley and Mary Blain, passed from this life on March 20th in the eighty-third years of his life at his home near Middlebranch. In company with his father, the late beloved Reverend Bartley Blain, he came to Nebraska in the spring of 1880 when they settled on adjoining homesteads, part of which still remains the family home in Holt county.
On October 29th, 1890 he married Miss Ellen Pettit. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive him. He is mourned by his widow, Ellen, and children, Mary, Seth, Bartley, Harold, Carlie and Homer, eight grandsons and two granddaughters. Also surviving him are brothers, George in California, Will in Arkansas and a sister, Ada Lockhart, in Washington.
He had taken an active part in the work of the farm until two months ago when he had an attack of influenza. From this he apparently started to rally when he was taken by a paralytic stroke from which he could not recover.
His has been a full life of devotion to God and family. He is truly mourned by all who knew him.
He is not dead but sleepeth and awaits us in his Eternal Home.
