Hugh H. Whitaker, 55, who lived at 1726 Graham St. died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday Jan 28, 1976 in McCuistion Medical Center. He was owner of Hugh Whitaker Pawn Shop. 340 Bonham St. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday Jan 29 in the chapel of Gene Roden's Sons. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Whitaker was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Lamar County, a son of Phelix Edward and Willie (Harbin) Whitaker. He married the former Miss Mattie Lou Goff on Dec. 8, 1944. He was a graduate of Paris High School and Paris Junior College and served as an officer in the transportation corps during World War II. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and its Adult III Sunday School Class. Mr. Whitaker was also a member of the Paris Gun Club and the Texas Pawn Brokers Association. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Philip H. Whitaker and Stephen L. Whitaker, both of Paris; one daughter, Risa Jan Whitaker of Paris; one sister, Mrs. Hershel (Hester) Battles of Hemet, Calif.; one brother, Hubert E. Whitaker of Fort Worth and one grandson, Paul Glenn Whitaker.
