US Congressman. His parents moved to Wayne County, Kentucky in 1787, where he attended a private school, studied law, and began a practice in 1801, when he was only 16 years old. In 1801 he was also appointed Clerk of the Wayne County Court. During the War of 1812 Taul served as commander of the Wayne County Volunteers with the rank of Colonel, and his unit saw action as part of General William Harrison's force that fought the British along Lake Erie. In 1814 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democratic-Republican and served one term, 1815 to 1817. He did not run for reelection in 1816 and resumed practicing law. In 1826 he moved to Winchester, Tennessee, where he continued to practice law. In 1846 Taul relocated to Mardisville, Alabama, where he practiced law and owned a plantation. Micah Taul was the father of Micah Taul (1832-1873), who served as Alabama Secretary of State and a member of the state Railroad Commission, and the grandfather of Taul Bradford (1835-1883), who also served in Congress.
