Professional Football Player. Born Robert Kendal Luna in Lewisburg, Tennessee, he played at the defensive back (safety) position for two seasons (1955, 1959) in the National Football League, with the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. During his collegiate years at the University of Alabama, Luna was a standout athlete excelling at both football and baseball. He was chosen by the 49ers in the 6th round of the 1955 NFL Draft and appeared in 24 career games. After retiring as a player, Luna served as an assistant coach for the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant.
