JAMES RADFORD ARCO, DIES

ARCO--James Leroy Radford, 71, Arco, former building contractor, died Tuesday evening in an Idaho Falls nursing home. He suffered a stroke in April of 1972 and had been a patient at the nursing home since.

He was born August 5, 1901, at LaBelle, the son of Edward and Pearl Wilbur Radford.

He married Ida Mae Morgan October 5, 1924, at the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. He married Pearl T. Radford November 8, 1941, at Ririe.

Mr. Radford was an elder in the LDS Church, received his schooling in the Ririe area and was a former employee of the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked as a building contractor in the Twin Falls area and was a noted millwright. He moved from Twin Falls to Arco in 1956 and had been an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by one daughter. He is suvived by his widow of Arco; sons and daughters, Dorsel Radford of Grantsville, Utah; Mrs. Jerry (Pearl) Davis of Richfield; Vee Radford of Boise; Gerald Radford of Idaho Falls; Mrs. Rodney (Vonda) Byrington of Ririe; Keith Radford, both of Jackson, Wyoming; stepsons, Dean Radford and Lyal Radford, both of Jackson, Wyoming; Jay Radford of Ucon and Rex Radford of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Ako Radford of Huntington, Utah; 34 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, with Bishop Marcus W. Barnes of the Clark LDS Ward officiating. The family will meet friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under Eckersell's direction.

James LeRoy Radford is the son of Wealtha Permilla (Pearl) Wilbur and Edward Radford.

He married Ida May Morgan. They had two children. Their son Dorsel LeRoy Radford died in 1998. Ida died in 1941.

He married second, Elzina Pearl Tyler Radford.
