Residence Westmoreland County.
Enlisted for 12 months' service on 5/16/1861 at King George Court House, VA., he was mustered into "C" Co. VA 47th Infantry as a Private.
Present on all Rolls through Nov & Dec 1864 final Roll.
Paroled 5/5/1865 Westmoreland Court House, VA.

Living in Montross, age 63, he applied for partial disability via a Confederate Veteran Pension on 4/16/1901 due to "General debility from old age".
He applied for "over one half" disability in 6/1902 due to "Rheumatism & kidney trouble". He was approved for $15 per annum.

The 47th Infantry Regiment was formed in June, 1861, with men recruited in Caroline, Middlesex, Essex, and Stafford counties. During February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Regiments were consolidated.
