Mary J. Hanna, maiden name, Mary J. Crumbaugh, was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, July 12, 1847, departed this life at her home near Noble, Illinois, December 24, 1924; aged 77 years, 5 months and 12 days.

She came to Illinois with her parents when she was 5 years of age. She was united in marriage to William J. Devore, September 30, 1866, shortly after his return from the Civil War. To this union were born four boys and two girls, three of these preceded their father to the great beyond, he having passed away March 4, 1876.

She was again united in marriage to Joshua Hanna, Oct. 13, 1878. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls of which one of the boys, Wille, preceded his father in death, his father having died April 21, 1907.

The deceased, Mary J. Hanna, confessed her faith in Christ when a girl of the age of 12 years, and became a member of the Christian church and remained a member of that church until the year 1877, when she became connected with the Baptist church ay Noble, Illinois, and remained a faithful member of that church until it became disorganized and, in 1901 she placed her membership with the Glenwood Christian church and has ever been a faithful and earnest worker for the cause of Christ.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, John J. Devore of California and Webster Hanna of Noble, Ill., Mrs. Docle Marvel and Grace Marvel, her daughters; four step-children and 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. M. Bradbury of Sumner, assisted by Rev. J. M. Shaw of Olney. Burial was at Hanna cemetery.
