About 1875, A. L. Bell, his wife Mary, their two sons, and their daughter Alice, along with her husband Frank Reno, moved to Texas and settled in Travis County near Manor. Other members of the Bell and Free families also came to Texas and settled in different areas.
A. L. Bell became a prominent landowner and farmer in the Manor area.
Mary Free Bell died in 1910. During his last years, A. L. Bell made his home with his daughter-in-law, Sarah Howell Bell, the widow of William Bell, in Austin, Texas. He died in 1921, probably in Austin.
