Donald Lines Jacobus lists eight and ninth children which the Erkfritzs do not. Jacobus has two additional daughters. Timothy and his brother Taylor were two of the seven inhabitants of Springfield, VT, who signed the first call for a town meeting in Mar 1764. He m. Lois (possibly Hill): she m. 2nd at First Church , Rockingham, VT, 18 Oct 1779, as Widow Lois Spencer of Springfield, VT, Mr. McKenzie. Most of the children eventually moved to Canada, but the widowed daus. Olive and Lois lived on for many years in Springfield. Note: Lois Spencer m. at Sprinfield Sept 1788 Joseph Wright, but it is not known who she was. Children 1, 2, and 3 were m. by Simon Stevens, 4 and 5 by Jotham White. On the grand list of estates or Springfield for 1782, appears the name of Daniel Hill Spencer, 12 Pounds; presumably number 2 child. There is proof, derived from CT church and probate records, that Lois was a Hill. Daniel-3(Ebenezer-2, Robert-1) and Leah ( ) Hill had four children bapt. three in Durham, CT and the fourth in Killingworth, CT. Susanna, bp 21 Apr 1723; Daniel, bapt. 19 Jul 1725; Aaron, bp. 7 Jun 1731, and Lois, bp. 7 Nov 1736. In the Guilford, CT Probate District is a file for Daniel Hill, dated 1764. Close examination shows that there was documents papers in this file for 2 different individuals. Most of the papers are for DanielHill, Jr., the man bapt. in 1725, who predeceased his father. The only other document is the will of Daniel (Senior), an abstract of which follows: Daniel Hill of Guilford made his will 28 Sept 1763, and it was probated 10 FEb 1764. To beloved wife Leah Hill, one-third of estate for life. To heirs of son Daniel HIll, twelve pence. To daughter Susannah Hill, twelve pence. To daus. Lois Spencer, Anne Hill, and Martha Hill, all remaining estate, both real and personal. Witnesses: George Bartlet; George Bartlet Jr.; Henry Bartlet. These records show that Lois Hill, bapt. 1736, had by 1763 m. a Spencer; but had she m. Timothy? Guilford Land Records (8:95), 1 Nov 1757, Daniel Hill of Guilford sold to Timothy Spencer of Guilford a small plot in Guilford. Although no relationship is stated, this transaction took place very close to the time that Timothy Spencer m. his wife Lois, so it seems highly probable that Lois Hill, dau. of Daniel Hill, did marry Timothy Spencer. Ref: Marjorie and Donald Erkfritz, 7905 Eston, Clarkson, MI 48016, in a letter dated 16 Jan 1983, states that Lois Spencer Bemis was the youngest of the family. Last name appeared in Probate papers with brother Amos. . .money put in trust for them. "Lois Hill, Wife of Timothy Spencer of Connecticut and Vermont", The American Genealogist, 60:153, Jul 1984.
