Memorial services for Everett E. Buhler, 87, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Private inurnment services will be at a later date.

Mr. Buhler died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at his home.

He was born July 27, 1919, in Pretty Prairie, the son of David Bernard and Helen Julia Hansmann Buhler. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1937 and attended Kansas University.

Mr. Buhler served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. He leased and operated Lawrence Airport and was a flight instructor from 1945 to 1947. He then farmed in Garden City until 1958. He returned to Lawrence and purchased the Texaco Oil Bulk Plant and retired from there in 1972.

He was a Realtor with Holmes, Peck & Brown from 1972 to 1980 and was the superintendent of grounds and transportation for Lawrence public schools from 1980 to 1995. He worked for Coldwell-Banker McGrew Real Estate as an administrative assistant from 1995 until his death.

Mr. Buhler was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and its choir, Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Sertoma Club and Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion. He was also an avid golfer.

He married Helen L. St. Clair on Dec. 20, 1941, in Pensacola, Fla. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Mark and wife Marsha, and Dave and wife Beth, all of Lawrence; three daughters, Annette Buhler Jones and husband Robert L., Holcomb, Elizabeth Buhler Ames and husband Mark S., Columbia, Mo., and Kathryn Buhler Bernhardt, Sedalia, Mo.; four sisters, Carol Francis and husband George, and Geraldine Smith and husband Glee, all of Lawrence, Irene Miller, Kansas City, Mo., and Helen Ossmann, Topeka; 16 grandchildren, Amelia, Kristen, Adam, Megan, Matthew, Stephen, Julia, Jessica, Mallory, Anne, Tyson, Sam, Andrew, Hanna, Mary and Jon; and nine great-grandchildren, Isabel, Lauren, Paige, Gavin, Halle, Jace, Jamen, Jack, and Julia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dr. Victor B. Buhler, and a sister, Esther Paxton.
