Mrs. Winnie H. Hurlbutt, 83, at the
Johnson & Gill chapel Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Hurlbutt passed away at her
home Thursday afternoon after a
She was born on a farm near Cambridge
February 24, 1875, one of five
children of Hugh A. and Martha
Her education was received in the
rural schools near Cambridge and
then she taught in the rural schools
for many years.
In December 1895 she was married
to Fred N. Hurlbutt at her home near
Cambridge. He precedes her in death
July 29, 1946.
After their marriage they lived on
a farm northwest of Galva and in
1920 moved to their present home,
at 416 Northwest Sixth Ave.
She attended the Congregational
church and was a member of the
Rebekah society, American Legion
Auxiliary of which she was a past
president, Kewanee chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution
and the Women's Workers of
the Congregational church.
Surviving are a daughter. Miss
Hazel L. Hurlbutt, of Waukegan; a
son, Robert H. Hurlbutt, of Davenport.
Ia.; two grandchildren; nieces
and nephews; and a sister, Mrs. Ellie
Johnson, of Fairfield. Ia.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, one son, two sisters
and one brother.
