"Died on May 28, 1914 at the Long Beach Sanitarium following an operation, cancer being found. Age: 72 years. Interment will be at Signal Hill Cemetery. She and her husband traveled across the plains in 1856, settling near El Monte. They came to Long Beach in 1885, settling on a site of what is now Willowville, homestead at Atlantic Avenue and Willow Street. They moved to Chino 3 years ago, returning to Long Beach 3 months ago. Survived by the following: 6 sons: Willis Shrode of Chino; Algy Shrode of Los Angeles; John Shrode of Long Beach; Mark Shrode and Jake Shrode of San Jacinto; and Linsey B. Rogers of Holtville, CA.; 3 daughters: Mrs. Bessie Hurley, 706 Lime Avenue, Long Beach; Mrs. Olive Ward and Mrs. Sallie Allen of Chino. A nephew: J.A. Teel, also survived by grandchildren."
