Abert Joseph Paolini, 97, died peacefully at the Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg on Monday, March 3, 2008. Prior to his death he resided at the Village of Laurel Run Nursing and Rehab Apartments. He was formerly of Gettysburg, but lived most of his life in Wind Gap.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1910 in Wind Gap, the son of the late Joseph and Zelinda Tarsi Paolini.

Mr. Paolini was a self-employed contractor and owner of Paolini Floor Covering, a linoleum, tile and carpet business for approximately 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wind Gap and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. He was an avid bowler and was elected to the Slate Belt Bowling Association's Hall of Fame in Wind Gap. He further enjoyed gardening, bocce, golf and was an avid sports fan.

Mr. Paolini is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lena Detzi Paolini; one daughter, Lorraine Edwards and son-in-law, Arthur Edwards of Gettysburg; one son, Dr. David A. Paolini and daughter-in-law, Caroline of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Tim Edwards of Schwenksville, Dr. David J. Paolini of Kittanning, Cheri Edwards Salas of Herndon, Va., Thea Paolini of Fairfield; and three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Edwards, Jason Edwards and Sean Salas. Mr. Paolini was predeceased by two grandchildren, Lori Ann Edwards and Albert "Duke" Paolini. He is also survived by a sister, Lydia Stoppia of Phillipsburg, N.J.; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Paolini, Edward Mancinelli, Dino Mancinelli and two sisters, Mary Angelastri and Anna Kideris.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Edwards, Tim Edwards, David J. Paolini, Andrea Salas, Cheri Salas, and Thea Paolini.

Graveside services will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery in Pen Argyl.
