Alan, your dad was one of the most kind, considerate, helpful persons that I knew at Dana College. I had several conversations with him about my own career path and worked with hundreds of students that he helped in the same way. He will be remembered as a compassionate, understanding man, a good listener and much more. He cared about other people, one of Dana's most treasured trademarks. His spirit will live on in the hearts of many. God Bless Verlan Hansen.--Michael Jones

I remember him as my junior high science teacher in Blair, Ne. He had a very encouraging demeanor for a very reluctant science student!--Ellen J. Fisher

My sincere condolences to Helga and family. Helga and Verlan were dear friends of mine when I taught Danish at Dana. I will always remember fondly all the visits to their home in Blair.--Trine Feuerborn

Even as we celebrate your father's long and full life, we grieve with you, your mother and family at his death. John Mark and Dawn--John Mark Nielsen

Praying for peace and comfort for your family as you grieve. He was registrar when I was a student at Dana.--Kristy Gates

I'll never forget having an independent study LARP summer session with him so I could finish my degree. It was so weird and cool all at the same time. Rest In Peace Mr. Hanson.--Ken Larsen

I am sorry to hear this. He was an incredible man who cared deeply for the students at Dana. I remember some wonderful conversations with him in his office. His door was open to anyone. I wish you all comfort and peace in this time.--Michael Martin

Dr. Hanson was so kind, and always welcomed us, as Lisa's friends into their home. Mrs. Hanson made us Snickerdoodles. A very warm and caring place to be while at Dana, far from my own home. Thinking of all of you.--Suzanne Ainsworth
