Minden resident Mark Sidney Binderup, 81, died Friday, February 29, 2008, at his home in Minden.
Mark was the son of Verne and Rose Binderup.
He married Marian on Dec. 27, 1952 and they were the parents of Scott, Bob, and Jim.
Services were held Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating.
Private family burial was held prior to the service in
Minden Cemetery with military honors provided by the Minden
American Legion and the Heartwell VFW.

Mark Sidney Binderup, 81 years of age from Minden, Nebraska, died on Friday, February 29, 2008, at his home in Minden. Mark was born July 17, 1926, in Kearney County, Nebraska, near Newark on the family farm to Vern G. and Rosie (Christensen) Binderup. He was baptized in the Newark Methodist Church. Mark grew up in that area and graduated from Kearney High School in 1944.

Mark served his country from 1950 to 1952 in the U.S. Army in the mortar section during the Korean War. He attained the rank of SFC in the 7th division, 17th infantry.

On December 27, 1952, he married Marian Meyer at the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church south of Minden. They had three sons, Scott, Bob and Jim.

Mark enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and having coffee with his friends at the coffee shop. He loved watching and feeding the birds outside his window. You could never find Mark without a piece of candy in his pocket to share. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Survivors include his wife, Marian, of Minden; three sons, Scott Binderup and his wife, Donna; Bob Binderup and his wife, Ronda; and Jim Binderup and his wife, Tammie, all of Kearney County, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Dr. Chris Birkstrand and his wife, Deanne of Minden; Nicole Schoone and her husband, Dan of Minden; Ryan Binderup of Hastings; Tim Binderup of Lincoln; Travis Binderup and Wyatt Binderup of Minden and Becky Binderup of Kearney; four great-grandchildren, Alaina and Danica Schoone and Jameson and Jasper Birkestrand, all of Minden; one sister, Carol DeRolf of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law and one nephew.
