Funeral Service Held Today for Kurten Resident
John H. Hearne of the Kurten community, Brazos county, passed away at the family farm home, Tuesday at 1 p.m. after a lingering illness. Mr. Hearne had been a citizen of Brazos county for half a century, and had been ill for many months.
The deceased was born in Brazos County, September 21, 1862, and at the time of his death was 67 years, 8 months and 21 days of age. He had lived in Brazos county all of his life, actively engaged in farming.
Surviving are the widow, four sons and five daughters; Richard Hearn of King's Highway; A. J. Hearne and Bryan Hearne of Bryan, and Leonard Hearn of Kurten; Misses Nettie, Jewell and Mamie Lee Hearne of Kurten; Mrs. J.P. Gibbs and Mrs. George Bell, both of Paducah, Texas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Old Tryon church, with Rev. J. J. Tatum of the Free Will Baptist church of Bryan conducting the services. Interment was made in Tryon cemetery, with McCulloch-Dansby funeral directors of Bryan in charge of arrangements.
