Calvin Franklin Austin was born in 1836 to Will and Dicy Austin. At age 25 (1862), he and other volunteered from the Confederate Army in the TN Infantry - Company K from Dickson County. In 1865 the war ended, and Calvin and his friends were discharged. They walked 200 miles over the mountains to return home to their families. Calvin's family still has his walking stick, and it serves as a reminder of his bravery and dedication to his country and family.
