Surgeon for Confederate Army Husband of Louisa Thompson Hayden
Anaximander Belemus Hayden, son of Hannah Ramsey and Dr. William Belemus Hayden, was born Dec. 12, 1807, in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. He married Louisa Thompson on Dec. 19, 1833. Their children are William Belemus Elisha, b. 1835; Hannah Elizabeth Jane, b. 1837; Mary Mariah Louisa (Gettys), b. 1839; Margaret Malinda Melissa, b. 1841; Irene Ceasarini (Marshall), b. 1843; George Anson, b. 1846; John Ramsey, b. 1849; and Anaximander Montgomery, b. 1852.
The Haydens came to Shelby County, Texas, in 1872; Dr. Hayden would have been 64 years old and his wife, 57. The 1880 census lists Dr. A. B. Hayden, 72; his wife, Louisa, 65; daughter Lizzie Hayden, 35; daughter and her husband, Irene, 25, and N. W., 32, Marshall; and black servant, Charles Hayden, 13, born in Virginia.
Dr. Hayden died Dec. 16, 1891, in Tenaha, and his wife died the following year. Their descendants are buried in Smith-Hayden and other Shelby County cemeteries.
