JULIA BERNES November 3, 1907 - February 20, 2002 Peacefully passed away at her home with her family at her bedside. Age 94. She is survived by her Son Stanley and Daughter-in-Law Joanie Bernes. She has two Grandsons Bradley Bernes and Sean Bernier. Seven Granddaughters Roxanne DeLa Cruz, Leslie Bohi, Michelle Fox, Loni Bernes, Traci Rayes, Kari Landon, and Grace Bernes. 14 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Born in Oakland, Julia Medeiros after her parents, three Sisters and two Brothers moved from Hawaii. Her younger sister was also born in Oakland. At age 19 she married Joseph Bernes, born in Portugal and became a citizen of the United States. Their first Son Ronald Bernes died in 1961, and Joseph died in 1959. Julia was shop steward for Box Craft in Emeryville and retired at age 65. Active Union Member of Graphic Communication Union Local #388 for 60 years. Visiting hours are Sunday, Feb. 24th 2 - 5 PM with a Vigil Service at 4:00 PM. Everyone to meet at GUERRERO MORTUARY CHAPEL, 407 Estudillo Avenue in San Leandro on Monday at 9:15 AM thence to St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 3725 High Street in Oakland for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. GUERRERO MORTUARY CHAPEL SAN LEANDRO 483-5300.
