Supercentenarian. She was a Roman Catholic nun and supercentenarian who was credited as the world's oldest known person at the time of her death. She dedicated most of her life to religious service.

She was born on 11 February 1904 in Alès, France, to Paul Randon and Alphonsine Delphine Yéta Soutoul. She had three older brothers and a twin sister who died just a year after their birth. She was raised Protestant but converted to Catholicism in 1923 at the age of 19. She worked in hospital ministry from 1944 until 1963. She retired at age 75 in 1979 but continued to care for the elderly until she turned 100.

At the age of 113, on October 19, 2017, she officially became the oldest French citizen. At the age of 114, on June 18, 2019, she officially became the oldest European. She became the world's eldest person following the death of Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman previously certified as the world's oldest person, who died at the age of 119 on April 19, 2022. Sister André died on January 17, 2023, at the age of 118 years, 340 days. She is the fourth-oldest verified person ever, as well as the oldest confirmed survivor of COVID-19.
