Professional Baseball Player. He played in the Major Leagues for 6 seasons as a right-handed pitcher with the New York Yankees, the Cincinnati Reds, and the New York Giants. A graduate of Georgetown University, he signed on to play with the New York Yankees and made his Major League debut on April 16, 1933 when he was 29 years old and was known as "Don." He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds the following year and spent most of his career playing for the Reds as a relief pitcher. He did make 26 starts during his career, threw 7 complete games, and pitched a shutout. In 1937, his contract was purchased by the New York Giants, with whom he played for during his final season. His last appearance was in the 1937 World Series against the Yankees. Despite allowing only one hit without surrendering any runs in three innings, the Giants still lost to the Yankees. Brennan appeared in 141 career games, won 21 games against 12 losses, collected 19 saves, and posted a 4.19 Earned Run Average. He was elected to Georgetown University's Hall of Fame as a baseball player in 1928. Brennan died in Boston, Massachusetts in 1953 when he was 49 years old. (bio by: K Guy)
