Ves Whitehead Moon, 85 of Tallahassee died Tuesday, November 26, 2007 at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. The Funeral service will be at 11:00am (EST) Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Salem United Methodist Church, 202 East Ninth Ave., Havana, FL. 32333, with Pastor Gordon VanNamee and Pastor Louie Mabrey of Faith United Methodist Church in Lake City, FL officiating. Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00am Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at Cherry Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cherry Lake, FL. Family will receive friends from 6 til 8:00pm, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL. 32308. Faith Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Moon was born March 6, 1922 in Arcadia, FL. She graduated from Madison High School in 1940. She then attended Culloden College in Culloden, GA. She married on Jan. 21, 1944 to Joseph Charles (J.C.) Moon. She worked for National Life Insurance Company for several years after being employed at several Doctors Offices in Gainesville, FL. She eventually was employed at Shands Hospital's EGG Department until she retired.
Although Mrs. Moon lived most of her life in Florida, she did live in Georgia and New York for a short time. Always an active member at United Methodist Churches were she was a member of the choir and served on the board for United Methodist Women. When she lived in Bronson and Chiefland she served on the State Democratic Committee. She was also a member of the Easter Star in New York and Florida.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Earl Callaway Moon, (and wife Melinda) of Havana, FL. and Victor H. Moon (and wife Cheryl) of Greencastle, PA. A daughter Theresa Moon Wideman (and husband Wayne) of Orlando, FL. Three grandson Sohn Moon of Bronson, FL, David Wideman (and wife Leslie) of Orlando, FL. and Jason Moon of Greencastle, PA. Two granddaughters, Tara M Brecbriel and Michele W Lane of Grenada, MS. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Moon is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Charles Moon; her parents Augustus Callaway and Aline Forrester Whitehead; and her grandson Christopher Shane Moon.
