John Herbert Hamilton, was born in Ames, IA on December 1, 1939, and passed away on December 26, 2022 at the age of 83. He was the son of the late John William Hamilton and Lela Marie Hamilton (Slaughter).

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan Mary Hamilton (Jones) in October of 2016. John is survived by his four children: Deborah Lewis of Union NE, Timothy (Debra) Hamilton of Omaha, Lori Dixon of Grapevine TX, and John (Michele) Hamilton of Omaha. He had ten grandchildren: Becky, Emily, Connor, Noah, Jake, Gabby, Meghan, Collin, Madison and Owen; and two great-grandchildren: Callie, and Edward. John is also survived by his sisters: Betty Sima (Ed) of Muskegon, MI and Wilma Dugan of Blair, NE.

John graduated from Omaha North High School in 1958 and served in the United States Air Force. John worked at Miller Electric in Omaha for 18 years. He and Sue purchased a home on the Missouri River in Fort Calhoun and lived there until 2004 when they decided to retire. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and gathering with friends and family. As fishing was one of John's passions, he and Sue found the perfect place to retire on Grand Lake in Grove, OK. John would drive his electric wheelchair down to the dock and boat house multiple times per day (rain or shine) to check if the fish were biting. After Sue passed away, John moved up to Omaha to be closer to family.
