Donald Erving Carey, 84, a resident of Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, died there Monday evening, February 19, 2008.

Donald was born July 31, 1923, in Fosston, Minnesota to William and Ida Beryl (Clark) Carey.

On March 27, 1943 Donald and Alvera M. Huenink of Cedar Grove were united in marriage.

After living in Oostburg the couple moved to Sheboygan in 1956. For ten years they owned and operated the Sugarbowl Tavern and restaurant on Michigan Avenue after which they opened the Mug-N-Jug Tavern on N. 15th Street for seventeen years, until retirement.

Over the years the couple enjoyed many happy times together and were able to travel to 43 states and 3 Canadian Provinces. After nearly 55 years of marriage, Vera preceded Donald in death on February 14, 1998.

Donald was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church and Toast Masters of Sheboygan.

In addition to working at the taverns, Donald enjoyed shooting pool and darts in various leagues. He graduated from LTC attaining a Certificate in Auctioneering.

Donald is survived by a son, Mickey (Mary) Carey of Sheboygan; two daughters, Sandra (LeRoy) Seefeldt of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other family members.

In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodee Flug; two grandsons, Travis and James Carey; two brothers, Eugene and Art Carey; and two sisters, Audrey Dora and Alyce Mahnke.

Funeral services will by held Friday 1:30 P.M. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Kerry Wilson, Pastor of Fountain Park United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
