Jane Clare Gattavara died September 23, 2005. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Enumclaw where she graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1945. College summers she worked as a relief operator in the Enumclaw Telephone Office. In 1949 she graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in History. She worked in offices in Buckley, Seattle and San Francisco.
She was an animal lover who rescued strays and fed the birds. Her favorite hobby was genealogy; she charted her American Ancestors for generations. Jane freely shared her research across the country. She constantly studied World War II which occurred during her high school years.
Jane never married and always took care of her mother and father in their golden years. Jane was born to James R. Gattavara and Grace Myrtle Lockridge. She was their only daughter and the oldest. Her brother Gene H. Lockridge survived her but has passed away recently.
