Karl W. Oltmer,71,Garrison, Mont.,died Saturday, Oct. 1,1983, in a Missoula hospital.
He was born April 11, 1912, in Salmon, to William and Katherine Oltmer. He attended schools in Lemhi. He worked in his father's flour mill in Lemhi for a time before moving to Gold Creek, Mont., where he mined.
He later went to work for the Kominko America Phosphate Mine until his retirement in 1968.
He married Louise Sanderson April 16,1933,in Butte,Mont.
He also ranched in the Garrison area during the late 1940's and early '50s/
He is survived by his widow, Louise, of Garrison; a son, William Oltmer, Denver; three daughters, Katherine Hrabe, Elk, Wash.; Karla Gonder, Huson, Mont., and Shirley Smith, Newport Wash; four sisters. Anna Lauer and Helen Thiel, both of Dietrich; Rose Hughes, Paradise, Calif.;and Dorothy Gleason, Tacoma, Wash.;15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Vigil services will be held Thursday at 4p.m.at the Livingston-Malletta and Geraghty Funeral Home in Missoula. Mass of Christian burial will be celbrated Friday at 2 p.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Chruch in Salmon with Fr. John O'Sullivan celebrant.
Burial will be in the Salmon Cemtery.
